What happens to the information you submit
If you sign the petition, your name and your choice about whether to display that name are stored with the signature. Your email is converted into a one-way server-side hash before the signature is stored. That hash is used to stop duplicate signatures. The readable email address is not stored with the signature.
If you send a private question, your email is stored with the question because I need a return address if I answer you. Questions are not displayed publicly, and asking a question does not sign the petition or subscribe you to anything.
The site also uses a short-lived rate-limit record to slow automated or repeated submissions. The record stores a server-side hash rather than a readable IP address.
I am not using the petition to build a mailing list, and I am not selling the information submitted through these forms. If you want your signature removed, use the private question form with the same email address and ask for removal.
